THE WOODLANDS, TX (August 15, 2016) – At the recent Montie Awards celebration hosted by the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance, one special award in particular was presented to local author Kathryn Lane, who had been nominated for her “above and beyond” work with the Montgomery County Literary Arts Council (MCLAC), one of the members of the alliance.

Lane, author of the novel Waking Up in Medellin, was unaware that she had been nominated for the award; the “special deeds” cited by MCLAC were to her just “things that needed to be done,” such as hosting receptions for visiting poets and authors, organizing special dinners with select Lone Star College – Montgomery creative writing students.

Lane received the award at the annual Montie Awards gala accompanied by her husband, Bob Hurt. “It was a thrilling experience to be a small part of such an incredible and energetic awards ceremony,” she said.
